Terrace is done

The terrace is finally done and we have been able to sit outside and eat quite a few times thanks to the beautiful october weather we have had. Now this season is probably over though and I am already looking forward to decorate and furnish the terrace next year!
If you wonder what the spaceship like things are, they are solar charging air vents for the garage and the basement that are under the big part of the terrace.

Curtains mania

When my parents were here, my mother made a lot of curtains, almost for the whole house! We are very happy with them all and now we can close for curious looks from outside in the evening!
Here is the living room as well as the kitchen part.
I told myself that we should get something else than Ikea fabric but I found these graphic ones that I really like so that plan didn't work... We have the graphic ones on one wall and the other wall is all white curtains. The only fabric not coming from Ikea is the ones in the kitchen, they are from a French store called Madura.

Wall in progress

Last weekend they started to build the continuation of the wall that was already there. At the moment it looks like a real mess but they advanced a lot during a day and a half! Next weekend the work will continue and soon it will look nice and proper!

Sidewalk

The sidewalk also looks proper now! And we have a somewhat acceptable mailbox. Now it is accessible and you can see who lives here as opposed to before when it was 1,5 meter up and no names were visible.
And have you seen our beautiful bushes?! It is mid october and they still shine with their magnificent orange berries!

Kitchen update

My parents where visiting for three weeks recently and during that time they helped us with soo many things! My dad almost finished all the remaining stuff to do in the kitchen for example. He put a facade on the dishwasher as well as on the fridge and the freezer. He also put the white "floor boards" that you can see between the floor and the cupboards, finished the table top and aligned all the cupboards. The only thing not done now is the installation of the kitchen fan because we are still waiting for some pieces that where missing from Ikea.

Toilet pics as promised

It took a few weeks instead of a few days but finally the toilet part in the downstairs bathroom feels somewhat finished. There is only a lamp in the ceiling missing but that is peanuts compared to what it looked before. So as promised, here are a few photos of the new toilet corner.

Sneak peak

Here is a little sneak peak of what will hang on our bathroom wall downstairs. I am planning to decorate the toilet corner in the next few days. Until then, I will only give you this little detail:)

A mountain of pillows

When I unpacked boxes this weekend I found a whole bunch of pillows that I had forgotten that I have, what a nice surprise! Now our couch is invaded with all of these and it is starting to feel more cosy in our little home.

Office in progress

It is so long to decorate a room and our office is far from being done, but it has progressed quite a lot. The table is in place and a part of the storage (with the doors missing) is put up. At least it doesn't look like a hurricane past anymore, like it did last week.

Closet space

Finally we have gotten to make something out of the little walk in closet we have. Saturday we installed the wooden floor and yesterday we put up shelves. Now I have put all these things that we want to hide, from suitcases to towels and bed sheets.
The images are not the best but it gives an idea of the space that you will never see again after this post...

Outside work

A has vacation now, not a very lazy one though cause he has been working outside everyday, inventing solutions, digging, preparing... Here are some examples of what he has been up to the last week or so.
Making the under layer of the terrasse waterproof and preparing the side of the future terrasse.
Putting geo textile around the house.
Putting a grill under the house so that no animals can go under there.
Digging and leveling the ground for the walkway. He started by building the corner of the house.

(Almost) a new couch

Our cats have unfortunately completely destroyed our couch cover so when we moved I decided to order a new one from Bemz. It arrived last week and I put it on yesterday. It feels like we have a new couch now! Later we will get another couch for the livingroom and we will put this one in the guestroom as it can also serve as a bed.

Cleaning up

Look how nice and tidy A has cleaned up the garage! He also organised all the garbage that we have to throw out. Before it was lying in one huge pile and it was a complete mess!

Kitchen

Our kitchen is advancing slowly but surely.
We recieved our beautiful oven that integrates perfectly in the kitchen friday so now I can make plenty of delicious cakes:)
We still have to install the extractor hood, put on facades on the dishwasher and the fridge/freezer, put up the plinths, get the permanent table top (for now we have a simple one from Ikea, this will later become one out of stone) and finish the back of the kitchen island. A lot left in other words but everything functions and that is the important part!

Bathroom upstairs

The bathroom is also practically done.
A mirror and lighting is missing, the towel heater is not hooked up, we still have to put silicon around the bathtub and a part of tile is missing next to the bathtub. Put apart from that, it looks pretty done to me!

Our bedroom

Finally things are starting to get together. My mother in law has been here for 10 days and she has helped us a lot. Yesterday we moved into our bedroom after having slept on the floor in another one.
The closet is up, the bed is in place and the curtains are hanging (even though I am not very happy about the solution for the window to the left...)
The details are left to do (get bedstands, make a headboard, finish the floor, decorate the walls...) but for now I am happy, the rest will come with time.

We have moved!

Saturday it was finally time to move! We are so happy even though we had no warm water the first day and I have to do the dishes in the bathtub. Nothing of this can stop me from being on a cloud:)
This is what it looked like this morning downstairs before we left for work.

Almost there

A little update on how things have advanced.
Bathroom downstairs is painted.
Downstairs is painted.
Stairs are installed.
Advancement of the kitchen and the wooden floor is installed and oiled downstairs.

Closer to the end

During these last few days we have really advanced and about 70% of the upstairs is done. This is a lot thanks to two very good friends help, Sofia and Stéphane! Here is the result in images.

The bathroom upstairs is painted and yesterday I started to put up the cupboard for the bathroom sinks.

The parquet is done in one and a half bedrooms. We have chosen a wooden floor "a la francaise" for the bedrooms. There are just the endingd next to the walls missing. Next step is to protect it with oil.

They have put up wooden baguettes around every door and also finished the walls around the toilet downstairs.

Dream and reality

I have made a moodboard for every room. It helps me to see the global picture and not mixing things that I think are nice by themselves but if you put them  together it looks awful!
Here are the moodboards for the two bathrooms and the progress in reality.
