Vegetable lasagna

I love lasagna, but unfortunately I don't make it very often because it takes a really long time to do. Yesterday I felt motivated though and it was absolutely worth it!

for 4-5 people

1 aubergine
1-2 squash
olive oil
25 grams of butter
3 1/2 tablespoons of flour
about 9 decilitres of milk
1 cube of vegetable stock
1 clove of garlic
salt, pepper and other herbs
150 grams of grated cheese
about 12 lasagna sheets
1 can of whole tomatoes
2 tomatoes
basil

Preheat the oven at 225 degrees.
Cut the aubergine and the squash into thinner slices. Salt and oil on both sides. Put the on a roasting pan and leave in the oven for about 15 minutes or until they have gotten some color.
Melt the butter in a pan and mix with the flour. Add the milk for it to become a smooth sauce. Add the vegetable stock, pressed garlic and spices. Stir in 2/3 of the cheese.
Butter a baking tin and put a layer of sauce on the bottom. Follow with a layer of lasagna sheets and half of the vegetables.Add more sauce, lasagna sheets and the rest of the vegetables.
Cut the canned tomatoes into smaller pieces and pour over the lasagna with the rest of the sauce. Put fresh tomatoes cut into slices with some fresh basil on top. Cover with the grated cheese.
Put in the oven for abour

My work help

I just had to show you this. Today I have somebody who is watching my work closely. It is one of my cats, India.
She fell down the balcony (it's about a 5 meter fall...) friday and luckily she has nothing. But she has been keeping very close to me ever since and today she decided to participate in my work.
The blog you can see on the computer is DESIGN DELIGHT, a very good Swedish blog about interior design and such.

Personnalized bed

I found this image when I was searching inspiration for our future bedroom. It is a perfect way to personnalize your bed without spending a lot of time. So take out your needle and thread and embroider whatever inspires you.

Office inspiration

We have a fairly small appartement (but that will hopefully change soon) and it is very important for me to have a space where I can work. Here are some inspiration for how you can have a cool office that doesn't take much space.

Elliott Erwitt

Today I will share a classic with you. ELLIOTT ERWITT is a photographer who loves dogs and children. It's hard to not notice and his legendary photos of especially dogs in all its sizes is what has made him famous.
I wanted to show you more than just Elliott Erwitt's talent of capturing dogs though. Enjoy the magic of black and white photos taken by a legend.

Apple and ginger cake

When we were at our friends this weekend they gave us plenty of apples because they have a lot of apple trees and they don't know what to do with all the apples that grow on them. This gave me a reason to try out all these recipies that have apples in them. Yesterday I made this very tasty apple and ginger cake.

For about 8 slices

3 eggs
3 decilitres of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking powder
2 1/4 decilitres of flour
1 teaspoon of grind ginger
3/4 decilitres of boiling water
butter for the baking tin
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of grind ginger
2 apples

Beat the sugar with the eggs. Mix baking powder, flour and ginger. Add that and the water to the batter.
Butter a baking tin and sprinkle the mix of sugar and ginger over it.
Peel the apples and cut them into slices. Put the apples on the bottom of the baking tin and pour the batter over them.
Put in the oven, 175 degrees, for about 30 minutes.
Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Friday mood / neighbours

We are lucky to have a neighbour that is helpful, nice and that loves cats (which has saved us many times when we needed to go somewhere). This weekend it will be sunday lunch on the floor below.

Design and Design

DESIGN AND DESIGN is a website where you can find a lot of inspiration within the graphic design world. There is also a vast choice of job ads from all over the world. Absolutely worth a visit if you look for a job or just to get inspired.

Lamps by architects

Architects do not only work with creating modern houses. Some of them also make beautiful interior design products. These lamps are an example made by KJELLGREN KAMINSKY. So far they are not in production but I am sure that they will be very soon. The yellow lamp is definitely going on my wish list!

Christian Faur

I visisted ANOTHER blog the other day and discovered CHRISTAN FAUR, an artist who work in different unexpected materials such as paper teared up into pieces or colored crayon pencils. With these he makes a picture that is to me more a sculpture than a painting.

Cherry top

This evening I made some really good cake for the first time. I call them cherry top because I put a cherry in the middle of each of them.

35 pieces of cake :

200 g of melted butter
6 decilitres of sugar
4 eggs
6 decilitres of flour
1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar
1 bag of almond flakes
frozen or fresh cherries

Heat the oven to 175 degrees. Put baking paper in a roasting pan.
Melt the butter in a 2 litre pan (you will mix the rest of the ingredients with the butter in here after).
Let the butter cool a bit and then add the sugar, the eggs, the flour and the vanilla sugar. Pour the batter in the roasting pan and put almond flakes on top as well as cherries.
Put in the middle of the oven for about 30 minutes.
Wait until it is cold and then cut it into squares.

Enjoy!

Original coat hanger

A branch can serve as many things and one of them is as a coat hanger. I thought that this was a brilliant idea to add to a very pure interior with different kinds of details from nature.

Marimekko fashion

Finnish MARIMEKKO is not only a fabric and interior design company but they also do fashion design. I thought it was worth sending a post about this since the clothing they create are very nice and modern. I wouldn't mind having the blue coat in my winter closet for example.

Annika Aschberg

Maybe the name ANNIKA ASCHBERG doesn't ring a bell but I am sure that you have seen her photos of MADONNA for example. Although, those are not the photos I prefer but the ones that has this special feeling in theme that makes you want to enter and discover what you can't see.

Wedding rings

Wedding rings are always hard to find especially if you want something minimalist yet original (which is my case). Here are a few rings to get inspired from though that I find timeless and very beautiful.

Friday mood / Paint party

This weekend we are going to a paint party at our Dutch friends. They just bought a big house that needs to be taken care of a little bit and they had the brilliant idea of inviting all there friends to help them. Maybe this is an idea that will inspire you to do something similar.

There are a few illustrators who's work I really appreciate and one of them is CECILIA CARLSTEDT. She has an amazing style with beautiful colors and the choice of paper makes the illustrations so much more interesting.

Catarina Giarimi

Yesterday I was watching a show about female designers on Swedish TV on the internet. One of the episodes were about CATARINA GIARIMI, a designer who makes beautiful glasses. What I didn't know is that she started as a fashion designer and discovered glass design by enrolling in a design competition. It was a really interesting show and if you understand Swedish I recommend to see it. Click HERE to get to SVT's website.

Do it yourself / Shoe shelf

This weekend I have been quite productive. I have had time to make two pillows and a furniture for the tv. You have to wait a few days though to see the results since my fiancee brought our camera to the auto show in Francfurt today. While waiting I can show you another piece of furniture that we have made. Based on an Ikea book shelf that was just lying around in our basement we created a shoe cupboard. All we needed apart from the shelf was a few shoe shelves from Ikea that we painted light grey and a green piece of plexi glass that we used as a door.

Friday mood

Today it is time to organize the work space at home. This is what it will hopefully look like when I am done.

Saab

My sister sent me a link to the new SAAB commercial because she thought that the music was so good. It is, but what is really good is the commercial in it's whole. Swedish car companies are very talented when it comes to making interesting and modern commercials for their car models.
Check it out underneath or click HERE.

Chanel / Zaha Hadid

I have had an article on my fridge for a year now about "CHANEL'S mobile art pavillion" designed by ZAHA HADID. In the article it said that the "art pavillion" was going to stop by in Paris in 2009. I have waited and waited and decided to go and research about it today. To my disappointment it seems like they canceled the visit to Paris. If anyone had the chance to visit this futuristic art exhibition in Hong Kong, Tokyo or New York I would love to hear about it!

Lotta Kuhlhorn by Retro

Masking tape in every color

LES FLEURS is a French online shop that sells all kinds of nice and interesting things such as mini porcelain animals, objects with dots on them and these nice and colorful masking tapes.
The shop is definitely worth a visite!

The idea of the day : Magazine wallpaper

I thought this magasin wall is a really good idea, especially for a room where you need a lot of inspiration such as in your office.

Jen Stark

I discovered JEN STARK quite a while ago with her beautiful paper sculptures. What I didn't know though is that she also makes amazingly detailed illustrations. The multitude of colors makes you think of her sculptures yet it is a much less organized world with a whole spectrum of dreams.

Muuto

I went to the French fair "Maison & Objet" this weekend. For some reason I was drawn to all the Scandinavian companies and found quite a few interesting Danish design. One of them where MUUTO. I especially appreciate the candle holder by LOUISE CAMPBELL and the bed cover by HELLE MARDAHL.

Hello everybody!
